I think this problem could be used to open a wider discussion. Should we introduce another config option - a short name for the institution used for filename generation and if such an option were introduced, should it be one for all languages, or like the institution name, allow multiple language variants. We did have another case when the institution name contained both the long and the short version and when shortened this resulted in the short version repeated twice. This is something we would not be able to do anything about, unless we would allow the admin to add fixed string for this.
Of coures we would program stuff in such a way that when no short name was available, the current algorithm would be used instead.
So, any opinions?

Hi,
Høgskolen i Østfold have reported a minor "problem" with CAT profileThanks for the report!
filename.
For the institution "Høgskolen i Østfold" a file with the name
"eduroam_his_W7.exe" is produced.
That is the letter Ø in the beginning is ignored, and HiS is a different
institution.
Not a hugh problem, but it would be good if ÆØÅ could be included - or
one option is to substitute Æ = ae, Ø - oe, Å = aa
We currently translate from the "pretty-print" user interface name to
filesystem file names by converting to US-ASCII, *ignoring* all
non-ASCII characters.
We could to this with *transliteration* instead, which would turn the Ø
into an O (probably; this is a PHP-internal decision).
This would create a filename with "HiO" instead (good enough?) - it is
really not very advisable to keep the literal Ø as part of the file
name. You never know if some operating systems / filesystems don't like
these characters.
I'll leave it to Tomasz Wolniewicz to try this out though, this is his
code, not mine :-)

Hei
Et lite spørsmål, det ser ut til at vi har en liten utfordring med Ø i CAT
systemet.
Det er ikke noe kjempeproblem, men jeg ser at når jeg legger inn standardnavn
slik:
Institusjonsdetaljer
Land Norge
Institusjonsnavn standard/andre språk Høgskolen i Østfold
Institusjonsnavn English(GB) Østfold University College
Institusjonsnavn Høgskolen i Østfold
Mvh
Nils.
